ABOUT THE FARMER'S MARKET

There are 6 Rotary Clubs and Rotaract involved in running the Farmer’s Market each month. Rotary supports local growers and farmers by providing a well run venue for them to sell their produce, one way of supporting farmers in a drought.

Rotary provides a place where people living in an urban setting can buy fresh produce from the “paddock to the plate” 100% of the money Rotary raises from the gold coin donations goes back into the local Whitehorse community to support community projects that help local people Eastern Emergency Relief Network will receive $10,000 from the proceeds this year to help feed families – EERN spends about $4000 each month on food for people in need.

To date, they have helped 2700 families in 2008 – and they expect that the number will be higher by the time Christmas is over.
